Outstanding Mentors Awards 2023: Dr. Sara Louanne Scott

On behalf of the Global Administrative Desk, the International Council of Mentors and the International Advisory Council at GELA, we wish to congratulate Dr. Sara Scott on account of her dedication to international youth development having bagged an “Outstanding Mentorship Award for the year 2023” as the most available and contributory mentor during virtual engagements.

Born in London, England to Guyanese parents, Dr. Sara Louanne Scott has lived in
Guyana since she was 4 years old, undeniably “Guyanese to the bone!” She graduated
with a Bachelor of Medicine Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the University of Guyana
in 2017 and is currently dedicated to pursuing her Master of Medicine in Family
Medicine (MMed FM). Her commitment to academic excellence is exemplified by
actively engaging as Co-chief Resident, contributing significantly to the leadership of the
program.

In her professional journey, Sara has showcased her versatility and dedication to holistic
healthcare delivery across various roles. Her experiences range from serving as a
Sexual and Reproductive Health Counsellor at Dr. Pat’s SRH Consultancy to her tenure
as an intern, and later as a Medical Officer in the Department of Orthopaedics, at the
Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation.
Beyond her professional pursuits, Sara has consistently taken up active roles in diverse organizations. Notably, she dedicated two impactful years as part of the Executive Youth
Board at the Knowles Educational Charitable Trust for International Leadership (Kectil).

She currently holds a significant position as the Treasurer of Sexual and Reproductive
Health and Rights (SRHR) Adventures, where she has been a volunteer and member
since 2017. Her zeal for mentorship, leadership, and advocacy motivated her to
participate and successfully complete the Women Deliver Young Leaders Program,
graduating as a member of the Class of 2020.

Driven by her dedication to community service and healthcare advancement, Dr. Scott
actively participates in seminars, workshops, and conferences at local, regional, and
global levels. Her overarching goal is to contribute positively towards shaping a
healthier, more equitable future for all.

    Going through your profile, I want to say I can’t wait to start my journey with you. Am currently coaching adolescents boys and girls on HIV awareness and sexual reproductive health through an Adolescent youth program organised by Center for Clinical care and Clinical research in Nigeria and I believe I will need your guidance in helping this young adolescents.
